Teams
Local League (SADVA)
Roke Volleyball Club enter multiple teams into both the men's and the ladies' local league. The aims of each team vary between
development for players new to the sport, and competitive for experienced players.
County League (HVA)
We enter men's teams in the HVA league. This is a competitive team, intended to challenge our best players.
History
The club started in its present form in 1997. Originally, it was just a men's team playing volleyball in the local
SADVA (Southampton And District Volleyball Association) League.
This team was formed from employees and friends of Roke Manor Research in Romsey. During the early days the men's team was
successful at winning the local league, but this was followed by several years of decline when older players left the
team. In the mid 90's there was a resurgence when they won the SADVA League Cup. At about this time, a decision was made
to convert the team into a club, and several other successes were achieved in the SADVA League. Today we boast multiple
Men's and Ladies' teams, who represent the club in the local and county leagues, and a current membership of around 100.
Principle club aim
Our aim is to teach and promote a good standard of competitive volleyball, in a friendly atmosphere, and get as many people
playing volleyball as possible. We welcome all levels of players from beginners and improvers, to National League Standard.
Safeguarding and Welfare
Essential to our aim of getting people playing volleyball is creating a safe and supportive environment for our members to
play and learn in. Our full safeguarding and welfare policies are available here for children
and here for adults
